Outrigger Canoe Club only entered two events in the 1923 AAU Track and Field Meet on March 23 at Kamehameha Field. The championship was won by Palama Settlement with 94 points, followed by the University of Hawaii with 61, Kamehameha with 12, unattached runners 12, and Outrigger 10.
Gordon “Dog” May won the 440-yard dash in :53.5 to earn five points for the Club. The other five points were added by Wayson Williams who finished second in the pole vault, and Campbell who finished third.
OCC Olympian John M. Watt’s meet record of :16.01 was broken in the 120-yard high hurdles. The record was broken by C. G. Krogness of Harvard who finished in :15.04.
For the first time, women competed in the AAU Track and Field Championships. Outrigger did not enter any women.
