Outrigger Na Wahine O Ke Kai Champions

Bank of Hawaii, the original sponsor of the Na Wahine O Ke Kai race, commissioned a wood carver to make three heads in the shape of the Na Wahine O Ke Kai logo to go to the winners of the first three races. Outrigger won the race in 1979 and 1981 and was awarded two of the heads. The Club returned one of the heads to Na Wahine O Ke Kai race director Hannie Anderson to be used as a perpetual trophy for the first Hawaii finisher. It was never awarded and its status is unknown.

The head that Outrigger kept was turned into a perpetual trophy for the Club’s winning crews and placed on a monkeypod base. The names of the winning OCC crews are listed on plaques on the base.

The trophy is 18″ wide, 20″ high and 6″ deep.  It is carved from monkeypod.
