Outrigger Canoe Club entered a team in the 1924 AAU Track and Field Meet at Kamehameha Field on March 29. The only OCC winner was pole vaulter Richard (Dick) Gartley who set a new meet record of 12′ 10 7/8″.
The meet was again won by Palama Settlement, followed by the University of Hawaii, Hui Makana, Central YMCA and the Outrigger.
Others who earned medals in the meet were:
- William Worthington, 2nd, 220-yard dash.
- Harold Harvey, 2nd, pole vault.
- Herbert Deverill, 3rd, 440-yard dash.
- Wayson Williams, 3rd, pole vault.
- Jack Muirhead, 3rd, running broad jump.
- Kenneth Ross, 3rd, 16# shot put.
Other Outrigger Canoe Club members who entered were:
- 120 Hurdles: Jack Muirhead, W. L. Smith.
- 440-yard run: N. Holt.
- 880-yard run: Herbert Deverill.
- Pole Vault: G. Brown.
- Broad Jump: Richard Gartley, Wayson Williams, Allan McGuire.
- Javelin: G. Brown.
Olympian John M. Watt, who represented the Club in earlier meets, competed unattached, and set a new meet record in the 120 hurdles of 15.3 seconds. It beat his previous record of :16.1.
