The award is made possible by a $100,000 gift to the OCC to fund a scholarship award and trophy from Wilford “Woody” and Shari Godbold in memory of Woody’s father, Judge Godbold. Judge Godbold was instrumental in the Outrigger’s move to Diamond Head and was responsible for drafting the masterpiece Lease with the Elks Club.
Beginning in 2024, the Judge Godbold scholarship and trophy will be awarded annually to the outstanding high school senior male and female volleyball players who best embody the dedication, loyalty and Aloha that Judge Godbold gave and had for the Outrigger Canoe Club.
If there is not a senior male or female deemed worthy of the award in any particular year, the award shall be given to the outstanding high school junior male or female embodying the necessary characteristics. If there is no high school senior or junior in either gender deemed worthy in a particular year, the award shall not be given.
The recipients of the awards shall be determined by an Awards Committee appointed by the Outrigger Volleyball Committee.
