The Outrigger Canoe Club has a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership. On July 28, 1939 the Club created a formal structure through the passage of Bylaws which described the composition and terms of the Board of Directors, its powers, duties of its officers and how nominations and elections were to be held. The Board is currently composed of 13 members who are elected to two-year terms on a staggered basis. No member may serve more than three consecutive terms on the Board. A Nominating Committee recommends a slate of members for election to the Board. Members mail in ballots to the Judges of Election Committee or vote electronically and the names of the winners are announced at the Club’s Annual Meeting in February. The Board elects the President. The President selects officers and Coordinating Directors from the elected Directors.
Olympian Swimmer Duke Kahanamoku has the honor of being elected to the Board every year from 1939 until 1952 when he was made an Honorary/Life Director and served in that position until his death in 1968.
The following members have been elected and served on the OCC Board of Directors.
