Life Member: George Freitas

George E. Freitas

George Freitas was elected to Life Membership in the Outrigger Canoe Club at the Annual Meeting on February 26, 1986.
George joined the Club in 1925 to be the fourth man on the Club’s track team in the University of Hawaii sponsored Rainbow Relays. They won the quarter-mile relay and George became a regular at the Club swimming and surfing.

In 1963 his company, Pacific Construction Co. Ltd., was the low bidder for the construction of the Outrigger Canoe Club at Diamond Head. He worked with architect Val Ossipoff and Cline Mann, who chaired the Planning and Construction committees for the new Club, to build the Club in record time. The Club opened in January 1964.

Freitas served one year, 1962, on the Club’s Board of Directors.
