The Walter J. Macfarlane Memorial Canoe Regatta sponsored by the Outrigger Canoe Club is the oldest and longest running canoe race in the world. The first race was first held on July 4, 1943 and has been held every year since at Waikiki Beach, fronting the original home of the Outrigger Canoe Club (now the Outrigger Waikiki Resort & Duke’s Restaurant). The race is the only wave race on the Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association regatta schedule drawing paddlers from 16 Oahu canoe clubs entering 44 races for male and female crews from age 12 and under, to 70 and older. This video celebrates the 56th annual regatta. Part 2 features the masters, novice and upper division races and the awards ceremony.
