A legacy is the gift you hand down from one generation to the next.
The Outrigger Canoe Club Historical Committee spent considerable time pondering what the Club’s Legacy is. We have agreed that our legacy is four-pronged:
- Our location on the ocean on beautiful Waikiki Beach where our members have been able to enjoy ocean sports for more than a century.
- Our members who have contributed so much time and effort to build a Club that is financially strong and has endured the test of time, war and financial difficulties to thrive.
- Our athletes who have succeeded in the Sports of Old Hawaii, as well as in other amateur sports that have made the Outrigger Canoe Club a true force in worldwide competitive athletics, and brought fame and recognition, not only to the Club, but also to the state of Hawaii.
- Our traditions that provide cultural continuity and customs from one generation of members to the next, and that share our values through our actions.
