The Outrigger Canoe Club has a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from the membership, and Standing Committees composed of members who volunteer their time and talent to make the Club the athletic and social Club that it is.
The first Bylaws of the Outrigger Canoe Club adopted on July 28, 1939 established Committees of the Club. These included the committees on Finance, Building & Grounds, Admissions, Ladies’ Entertainment, Men’s Entertainment, Athletics, Nominating, and such other committees as the Board of Directors may by resolution require. The Standing Committees have changed over time to reflect the growth and needs of the Club. Today there are 11 Standing Committees established by the Bylaws.
The chairs of the Standing Committees are appointed by the Coordinating Director for that Committee from the Board of Directors. The chairs are subject to approval by the Board of Directors. Each chair appoints a committee from members who volunteer their time to accomplish the duties of that committee. Members of the committees are also subject to confirmation by the Board.
