The Outrigger Canoe Club sponsored a regatta at Waikiki Beach on December 1, 1917. This trophy was awarded to the winners of the Junior 6 race. The race was for six boys under 16 years old racing in a six-man canoe. The course was from the Seaside Hotel to the Moana Pier, a distance of approximately one-quarter mile. This was one of 10 events held in swimming, canoe paddling and surfboard paddling for both men and women at the regatta.  Only two cups were awarded at this regatta, the Junior 6 Cup and the Frank Speaight Cup for the Senior 6 race.  Winners of the other eight races got medals.
