For his long-time history of architectural services to the Outrigger Canoe Club, Vladimir Ossipoff was elected to Life Membership in the Club on February 28, 1988. Ossipoff was the lead architect for the Club facilities at Diamond Head. Val provided the basic design of the Club and Pete Wimberly was the architect technician on the construction project.
Ossipoff’s design concept for the Club was a low-rise building that was open with the appearance of mass. He provided view planes from all locations of the Club. He was the first to use coral rock imbedded in coral aggregate concrete for the walls and pillars. His design won a national AIA award for utilization of space in design of the Club.
Ossipoff joined the Outrigger in 1950. He had previously provided architectural work on the old Club in Waikiki in 1949.
