Shooting

The Outrigger Trap and Skeet Club was formed in 1968 and held monthly skeet shooting meets at Hickam Air Force Base.  Among the regulars were Dave Hendrickson, Bill Brooks Jr., Neal Wall, Thad Ekstrand and Rick Brennan.  An annual Turkey Shoot was also held.

OCC member John Beaumont Jr. was a member of  the 1956 U.S. Olympic team, competing in the 25-meter Men’s Rapid-Fire Pistol competition.  He placed ninth.

OCC Member Kimo Austin was an outstanding skeet shooter and won the World Champion of Champions event in 1969 with 100 straight.  He was Hawaii state 20 and 28 gauge champion, and fired a 249×250 in the Hawaii State Championships.  Kimo set world records in skeet shooting and was named to the All-American Skeet team in 1964, 1965, 1969 and 1970.  Austin was elected to the National Skeet Shooting Association Hall of Fame in 1991.
