There was an effort by member Jack Keenan to organize an Outrigger Canoe Club rugby team after the Club moved to its Diamond Head site in 1964. Keenan was a key figure in the Hawaiian Harlequins Rugby Union Football Club which practiced in Kapiolani Park across from the Club and held exhibition games with teams from visiting British ships.
There wasn’t enough interest to form an OCC team, however members Steve Scott and Tim Guard became active players for the Harlequins. Others who played were John Wilbur and John Finney. Wilbur and Finney were elected to the Harlequins Hall of Fame in 2017.
