Outrigger Canoe Club Song

Renowned Hawaii composer R. Alex Anderson, who wrote numerous hapa-haole Hawaiian songs, was a long-time member of the Outrigger Canoe Club, joining as a child. In 1980 Anderson wrote a song for the Outrigger Canoe Club. A year later he added a second verse.

The song was recorded in 1986 by the Teves Trio, who entertained for many years at the Club.

In 2022, the song was re-recorded by member Candes Gentry for the 100th anniversary of the first Outrigger Canoe Club lua’u.  Joining Candes on the vocals is Kale Chang.  Bass, Guitar and Ukulele are by Travis Kaka.  It was recorded at ‘Auwa’a Studios.
